Brewers clinch playoff berth, near NL Central title after routing Marlins

The Milwaukee Brewers clinched a playoff berth on Friday night with a 16-1 rout of the Miami Marlins. The Brewers scored 12 runs in the second inning, the second-largest single-inning scoring output in franchise history.

The Brewers were led by Christian Yelich and Josh Donaldson, who both homered in the second inning. Yelich finished the game with three hits and four RBIs, while Donaldson had two hits and three RBIs.

The Brewers also got a strong pitching performance from Corbin Burnes, who went six innings and allowed just one run on six hits. Burnes struck out eight batters and walked none.

The Brewers' victory clinched their fourth consecutive playoff berth. The Brewers are currently in first place in the NL Central, and they lead the St. Louis Cardinals by one game.

What happens next for the Brewers?

The Brewers will now look to clinch the NL Central title. The Brewers have a magic number of four, which means that they will clinch the division title if they win four games or if the Cardinals lose four games.

The Brewers will finish the regular season with a series against the Cincinnati Reds and a series against the Cardinals. The Brewers will need to win at least two of those four games to clinch the division title.

If the Brewers win the NL Central, they will receive a bye to the NL Division Series. The Brewers will then face the winner of the NL Wild Card game.
